How to Apply SEO to Your Web Page

SEO

I’ve covered much of this material one way or another in the past, but my friend Ken Koh of Leadleap fame has added another posting in his ongoing series on getting people to find your web site.

It’s surprising how many home stagers and others think that they can just put up a web site or have one put up for them, and expect to get traffic and jobs from that alone.

You need to get you page set up right, with both on and off page tactics to raise your web sites visibility online.

Setting up a web page is only the beginning to online marketing. Now you need to get it seen by potential customers. This used to be challenging in many markets, but there has been a big change in what matters. Today, what matters is being seen on the Google Places Page, and you don't even need to have a web site to do that. (although you should.) The good news is that its free, and if you know what you are doing, you can maneuver yourself to the top listing in many markets. That's one of the skill sets I bring to the table. If you would like to get your Google Places Page properly set up send me an email at enetwal@gmail.com and put "Free Initial Evaluation" or something similar in the subject line. Be sure to include your current web site and contact info.

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. However imagine if you added some great graphics or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and clips, this site could certainly be one of the very best in its niche. Terrific blog!

Thanks for the comment Burl. I will try to add more in the future. Strange, but I have my own self imposed limitations that I need to break through.

Most businesses set up a web site and hope/expect people to find it. Some might, if they know what to look for. But these days with mega millions of web sites out there people rely on the various search engines to locate information. That field is dominated by Google, so understanding what it takes to have your web site appear at the top of the google listing when someone is looking for your service is crucial. doing so, requires an understanding of how google works and what it looks for in the split seconds it has to return results. there are two major factors we refer to as on page and off page. The on page has to do with your web site, the words and layout on it. the Off page is generally refers to the back links of other web sites leading to your page and in particular to anchor text keywords others use to refer to your site. All of these things are pretty well known by the pro marketers in the field, but surprisingly not by all the web designers, who tend to know how to create pretty websites, but not necessarily how to market them so they show. In competitive markets their are ways to enhance your site so it shows above your competition, and generally you want to be on the top of the listings, and even have multiple listings on your major keywords. For local businesses, the biggest break through in the past 12 months has been the Google Places Pages. For any local business these are an absolute must, but still the majority of businesses have not taken the time to even claim their page, and then to complete it properly. This is a big mistake and is the first thing I would do as a local business even if I did not have a website. I set these pages up as one of the services I offer to local businesses, and generally can get most of them to the top of the listings in short order, although Google is funny and it sometimes takes a month or two.
